Reflexions about distributed generation and its implications on the power system, the society and the environment

The objective of this work is to study Distributed Generation in the most possible embracing way. For this, the research was not only based on the technical analysis of its apparatus, but sought more than that. Reflections on their implications in the power system and also in the environment and society are proposed. Distributed Generation is understood here as a broad concept that encompasses several technologies of power production and, to understand it, the discussions range from its origins to the results of its use on various environmental and social fronts. At first, a historical study was made on the electricity generation and the power system from its beginnings to the late years. Next, the text attempts to answer what is Distributed Generation. For this, the related terms are addressed, a historical-bibliographic revision is made and the definitions found in the literature are explored. In the third part of the work, the content becomes strictly technical, analyzing the positive and negative impacts, the technological details and the challenges of the integration of Distributed Generation into the power system. Finally, in the last chapter, the study attempts to understand what are the likely consequences for using Distributed Generation for nature and for humanity.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)O objetivo deste trabalho é estudar a Geração Distribuída da maneira mais abrangente possível. Para isso, a pesquisa não se ateve somente à análise técnica de seus aparatos, mas buscou mais do que isso. Reflexões sobre as suas implicações no sistema elétrico e também no meio ambiente e na sociedade são propostas. A Geração Distribuída é entendida aqui como um conceito amplo que engloba diversas tecnologias de produção de energia elétrica e, para compreendê-la, as discussões vão desde suas origens até os resultados de seu emprego em várias frentes ambientais e sociais. Em um primeiro momento foi feito um estudo histórico sobre a geração de energia elétrica e o sistema elétrico desde seus primórdios até os últimos anos. Em seguida, o texto tenta responder o que é Geração Distribuída. Para isso, os termos relacionados são abordados, uma revisão histórico-bibliográfica é feita e as definições encontradas na literatura são exploradas. Na terceira parte do trabalho, o conteúdo passa a ser estritamente técnico, sendo analisados os impactos positivos e negativos, os pormenores tecnológicos e os desafios da integração da Geração Distribuída no sistema elétrico. Por fim, no último capítulo, o estudo tenta compreender quais são as prováveis consequências do uso da Geração Distribuída para a natureza e para a humanidade
