A Star Wars trilogy analysis as a portrayal of the United States' socio-political context in the 1970s

Hollywood cinema has always been a contested territory as a representation of reality, with conflicting political ideologies shown through various scenarios and characters. The film production of the United States can be considered a rich artistic manifestation to portray the social, political and cultural reality of the country. The present work analyzes the original Star Wars trilogy from 1977 to 1983 as an allegorical representation of all the social, cultural, economic and political effervescence of the United States in the 1960s and 1970s, with the beatnick and hippie countercultural movements, the struggle for civil rights led by Martin Luther King Jr., the Vietnam War and the protests it generated.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)O cinema hollywoodiano sempre foi um território contestado enquanto representação da realidade, com ideologias políticas conflitantes mostradas através de cenários e personagens diversos. O presente trabalho analisa a trilogia Star Wars (1977 a 1983) como representação alegórica de toda a efervescência social, cultural, econômica e política dos Estados Unidos das décadas de 1960 e 1970.
