Imprensa e educação: um estudo sobre o pensamento educacional no Triângulo Mineiro (1930 1945)

This search discusses the educational thought expressed by the elite of Minas Gerais, Minas Gerais, Brazil, taking as its object the cities of Araguari, Uberaba and Uberlândia between the years 1930 to 1945. Were used as primary sources of investigation, the newspaper "The Triangle" of Araguari, "Farming and Trade" and "Mail Catholic" of Uberaba and "Tribune" of Uberlandia, as well as an extensive bibliography on the period under investigation. By reference to the epistemological assumptions concerning the dialectical historical materialism manifest in the contradictions between local, national and international, we realize that the local ruling classes, despite their strong internal divisions, focused on political hegemony in the region, built speeches and policy actions tied to government interests. The transformations taking place in capitalism and its local mediations led to the reproduction of Vargas assumptions based on the defense in the field of education, combating illiteracy and spreading the concept of progress as a synonym for technological advancement and social development. The education in the region was ruled by the formation of the ruling classes abroad and at the same time, the offer of regional schools for the children of the privileged classes are not based on "fear" God as a means of social control and education focused on scientific concepts. Foram utilizadas como fontes primárias de investigação, os jornais O Triângulo de Araguari, Lavoura e Comércio e Correio Cathólico da Uberaba e A Tribuna de Uberlândia, bem como uma ampla revisão bibliográfica sobre o período em investigação. Tomando como referência os pressupostos epistemológicos relativos ao materialismo histórico dialético manifesto nas contradições entre o local, o nacional e o internacional, percebemos que as classes dominantes locais, em que pese suas fortes cisões internas, voltadas à hegemonia política na região, construíram discursos e ações políticas atreladas aos interesses governamentais. As transformações em curso no capitalismo e suas mediações locais levaram à reprodução dos pressupostos varguistas baseados na defesa da educação no campo, combate ao analfabetismo e difusão do conceito de progresso como sinônimo de avanço tecnológico e social. A educação na região se pautou pela formação das classes dominantes no exterior e, ao mesmo tempo, o oferecimento de escolas regionais para os filhos das classes não favorecidas baseadas no temor a Deus como forma de controle social e concepções educacionais centradas na cientificidade.
