Mechanical-quantum study of methoxy and hydroxy derivatives of benzofuranone molecule

The Schrodinger equation is the basis of the calculation, using the wave function, which carries the information of the molecule. Computational calculation in the field of chemistry can be divided in two parts, semi-empirical and quantum. The efficiency of the calculations is represented in the total energy of the system, which represents the stability of the compound. The methods applied were: PM6, PM7, Ab-Initio, DFT, DFT-631G and MP2. Other variables analyzed were the GAP of HOMO-LUMO frontier orbitals, the time spent in calculations and the structural distance with the molecule of crystallographic origin. To optimize the calculation and obtain better results for the reality of quantum chemistry laboratories, it is necessary to choose the best method with the best basic function. It is concluded that the DFT-631G method was the best, because it presented similar results to other quantum methods, even with a simple base function, and in relation to the time it obtained results superior to the other quantum models.CBMM - Companhia Brasileira de Metalurgia e MineraçãoTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)A equação de Schrodinger é a base dos cálculos, utilizando a função de onda, que carrega as informações da molécula. Os cálculos computacionais na área da química podem ser divididos em duas partes, semi-empírico e quântico. A eficiência do cálculo está representada na energia total do sistema, que representa a estabilidade do composto. Os métodos aplicados foram: PM6, PM7, Ab-Initio, DFT, DFT-631G e MP2. Outras variáveis analisadas foram o GAP dos orbitais de fronteira HOMO-LUMO, o tempo gasto nos cálculos e a distância estrutural com a molécula de origem cristalográfica. Para otimizar o cálculo e obter melhor resultado para a realidade dos laboratórios de química quântica, é necessário escolher o melhor método com a melhor função de base. Conclui-se que o método DFT-631G foi o melhor, pois energeticamente apresentou resultados similares aos outros métodos quânticos, mesmo com uma função de base mais simples, e em relação ao tempo obteve resultados superiores aos outros modelos quânticos
