Trabalho, cidade e vida: cortadores de cana da Usina Alvorada S/A (Itumbiara/GO, 1970-2000)

This paper sims to analyze the experience of the rural workers specialized in sugar cane extraction. The goal is to understand how they develop their life and work relationships. The study was conducted in the city of Itumbiara, Brazil and the information requested from the year of 1970 up to the year 2000. By interviewing the workers this research tries to understand how their lifes developed focusing on the struggle to survive and assure theirs and their family survival. Analyzing the workers narration, it can be observed how was established different forms of coercion and exploration of the worker labor. It was analyzed the survival alternatives and the solidarity developed by the subjects of the present study. The objective is to understand the memories and history generated from the social relations and how the public policies construct and organize them. So this study looks from the perspective of the real person, how they elaborate their experience and how they behave.Mestre em HistóriaO presente trabalho busca analisar as vivências e experiências dos trabalhadores cortadores de cana que vieram a residir na cidade de Itumbiara, compreendendo como se constituem as relações de vida e trabalho destes entre 1970 e 2000. Por meio do diálogo com os trabalhadores busca-se entender como essas pessoas elaboram sua trajetória de vida, abordando as tensões enfrentadas na luta por sobreviver e garantir o pão de cada dia. Assim, pela interpretação das narrativas orais, pudemos observar como se estabelecem as formas de coerção e exploração da mão de obra dos trabalhadores da cana, analisando os caminhos e as alternativas de sobrevivência e solidariedade criados por esses sujeitos. Nesse sentido, pretende-se compreender as memórias e histórias produzidas nas relações sociais e como as políticas públicas as constroem e ordenam.
