O universo feminino e o espaço doméstico em A mão e a luva, de Machado de Assis, e O doente imaginário, de Molière

The purpose of this study is to compare two classic works: the first is about the seventeenth-century in France and the other depicts the bourgeois society in nineteenth-century of Brazil, addressing the dialogue of the maids Nieta and Mrs. Oswald, in the works of Molière and Machado de Assis, which in the light of literary theory have similarities and differences, as their actions in fictional texts and along the narratives enjoy the freedom within their homes, manipulating the characters, they pursue their ideals and mainly preserve livelihoods in their domestic spaces. Although Nieta, in the play Le malade imaginaire, is one jester and Mrs. Oswald, in the novel A mão e a luva, plays the role of governess, both works have as main theme the wedding by interests and direct or indirectly the two maids contribute to the girls marry the couple, which they chose, contrary to existing social rules of those times, that thanks to the actions of these characters. Even the outgoing linguistic behavior of Nieta, the comedy of manners, makes it more active and more productive text, as the author of disagreement with the medical abuses. However, Mrs. Oswald although belonging to an updated narrative resumes Eurocentric values and the protagonist, Guiomar, breaks the romantic values, giving the novel an irreverent end, in which the young earns the right to marry with the husband, that he will ensure their upward mobility.Mestre em Teoria LiteráriaO propósito deste trabalho é comparar duas obras clássicas: a primeira representa a França do século XVII e a outra retrata a sociedade burguesa no Brasil do século XIX, abordando a interlocução das criadas Nieta e Mrs. Oswald, nas obras de Molière e de Machado de Assis, as quais, à luz da teoria literária, apresentam similaridades e diferenças, quanto às suas ações nos textos ficcionais e que, ao longo das narrativas, desfrutam da liberdade dentro das respectivas casas, manipulando as personagens para alcançar seus ideais e, principalmente, preservando o bem estar nos seus espaços domésticos. Embora Nieta, na peça teatral O doente imaginário, seja uma bufona e Mrs. Oswald, no romance A mão e a luva, desempenhe o papel de preceptora, ambas as obras têm como eixo temático o casamento por interesses e, de uma forma direta ou indireta, as duas criadas contribuem para que as moças se casem com os noivos, os quais elas escolheram, contrariando as regras sociais vigentes daquelas épocas, isso graças às atuações dessas personagens. Inclusive, o comportamento linguístico extrovertido de Nieta, na comédia de costumes, torna-a mais atuante e o texto mais produtivo, quanto ao desacordo do autor com os abusos da classe médica. Contudo, Mrs. Oswald, mesmo pertencendo a uma narrativa mais atualizada, retoma valores eurocêntricos e a sagacidade da protagonista, Guiomar, quebra os valores românticos, dando ao romance um final irreverente, no qual a jovem conquista o direito de se casar com o marido, que irá garantir sua ascensão social
