Nationalism refers directly to an idea of a nation, which, although present in today's vocabulary, is difficult to define scientifically. After all, what is a nation? How are national identities created? Despite the lack of definition, shared sentiment is real, making all States now officially consider themselves as a nation. The present work is a bibliographical review that arises with the purpose of analyzing the evolution of the studies on nation and nationalism according to the works of some authors, carefully selected due to its relevance to the theme as well as the innovations brought when related to previous authors.
