Efeito da temperatura e umidade na ingestão de alimentos de touros nelore confinados no cerrado

In this study, was analysed the influence of air temperature and humidity on the natural matter feed intake of confined bulls in the cerrado biome. Fifty-three Nelore bulls were individually monitored by the GrowSafe System® from May 12 to August 12, 2014. The diet was composed by corn silage, ground corn, soybean meal, urea and mineral nucleus. The ambient temperature and air humidity were recorded every hour using Data Logger, and the Temperature and Humidity Index (THI) was calculated. The days were divided into four periods (8-10 h, 10-15 h, 15-18 h and 18-8 h) according to the meal offer in the trough (at 8, 10 and 15 h) and so on was calculated the mean of natural matter feed intake per hour per animal. The means of natural matter consumption at different times were compared by Student t test. Multiple regression was used by Stepwise method to relate the mean consumption with the thermal environment factors. There was greater consumption of natural matter in the milder period, from 18 to 8 hours, being, therefore, superior to the other periods. The model that best explained the relation between consumption and thermal environment which include the independent variables air temperature, relative humidity and ITU, together. The standardized coefficients for humidity; THI and humidity; THI and temperature presented negative values. The mean of body mass gain was 1.99 kg per day of confinement. For each second of permanency in the trough, consumption increased by 3.20 grams. It is concluded that the temperature; humidity, and both, calculated in the ITU can reduce the consumption of natural matter of Nelore bulls in confinement system as well as the natural matter feed intake is closely related to the hours of greater thermal comfort, that was observed in the late afternoon and at night.Dissertação (Mestrado)Neste estudo, objetivou-se analisar a influência da temperatura e umidade do ar sobre a ingestão de matéria natural de touros confinados no bioma cerrado. Foram utilizados 53 touros da raça Nelore monitorados individualmente pelo sistema GrowSafe System® de 12 de maio a 12 de agosto de 2014. A dieta foi composta por silagem de milho, milho grão moído, farelo de soja, ureia e núcleo mineral. A temperatura ambiente e umidade do ar foram registradas a cada hora por meio de Data Logger, e calculou-se o Índice de Temperatura e Umidade (ITU). Os dias foram divididos em quatro períodos (8- 10h; 10-15h; 15-18h e 18-8h) de acordo com a oferta da dieta no cocho (8, 10 e 15 horas) e calculou-se a média do consumo de matéria natural por horário por animal. As médias de consumo de matéria natural nos diferentes horários foram comparadas pelo teste tstudent. Utilizou-se regressão múltipla pelo método de Stepwise para relacionar o consumo médio com os fatores do ambiente térmico. Houve maior consumo de matéria natural no período mais ameno, das 18 às 8 horas, sendo, portanto, superior aos demais horários. Observou-se que o modelo que melhor explicou a relação entre consumo e ambiente térmico foi o que incluiu as variáveis independentes temperatura do ar, umidade relativa e ITU, conjuntamente. Os coeficientes padronizados para umidade; umidade e ITU; e umidade, ITU e temperatura apresentaram valores negativos. O ganho de massa corporal médio foi de 1,99 kg por dia de confinamento. Para cada segundo de permanência no cocho, o consumo aumentou em 3,20 gramas. Conclui-se que a temperatura e umidade, bem como em conjunto, calculadas no ITU podem reduzir o consumo de matéria natural de touros da raça Nelore em sistema de confinamento bem como o consumo de matéria natural está intimamente relacionado às horas de maior conforto térmico, observado no final da tarde e durante a noite
