Nutritional, ingestive and biochemical parameters of sheep fed diets containing different amounts of concentrate and inoculated corn silage

The aim of this work was to evaluate the nutritional, behavioral and biochemical parameters of ewes fed with corn silage inoculated with Lactobacillus buchneri, associated with different levels of concentrate (0%, 20%, 40%, 60% and 80%). Five female sheep were used, weighing 45.2 kg of the Santa Inês breed, were distributed in 5x5 Latin square in five periods, housed in metabolic cages. Blood samples were collected for biochemical and hematological evaluation of the animals during the experimental period, as well as measurement of the diet and water supplied and consumed, to measure consumption. The digestibility was performed by measuring the nutrients present in the fed diet and in the feces, calculating the difference between both. Dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) were analyzed. Also a study of intake behavior was promoted. In relation to the biochemical hepatic and protein components, cholesterol, triglycerides, very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), as well as albumin, uric acid, total protein creatine and urea, no significant differences were observed in the reference values. There was no effect of the use of inoculated silage associated with different amounts of concentrate on dry matter intake, dry matter intake in relation to body weight, dry matter consumption in relation to metabolic weight, water consumption and also on the relation between Water consumption and dry matter consumption, which may have been due to the fact that the animals were of the same category in relation to body weight, age and physiological state. The animals showed a high dietary intake and satisfactory digestibility. It was concluded that increasing levels of concentrate in the diet improved the responses on consumption and digestibility, without causing metabolic damage to the animals.Dissertação (Mestrado)Objetivou-se com o presente trabalho avaliar os parâmetros nutricionais, comportamentais e bioquímicos de ovelhas alimentadas com silagem de milho inoculada com Lactobacillus buchneri, associada com diferentes níveis de concentrado (0%, 20%, 40%, 60% e 80%). Foram utilizadas cinco ovelhas, adultas, com peso médio de 45,2 kg, da raça Santa Inês, distribuídas em quadrado latino 5x5 em cinco períodos, alojados em gaiolas metabólicas. Promoveu-se colheita de sangue para avaliação bioquímica e hematológica dos animais durante o período experimental, assim como mensuração da dieta e água ofertadas e consumidas, para mensuração de consumo. O ensaio de digestibilidade foi realizada pela mensuração dos nutrientes presentes na dieta ofertada e nas fezes, calculando-se a diferença entre ambos. Foram analisados teores de matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta (PB) e fibra em detergente neutro (FDN). Também promoveu-se estudo de comportamento ingestivo. Em relação aos componentes bioquímicos hepáticos e proteicos, colesterol, triglicerídeos, lipoproteína de muito baixa densidade (VLDL), fosfatase, aspartato aminotransferase (AST), assim como albumina, ácido úrico, creatina proteínas totais e ureia, não foram observadas diferenças significativas em relação aos valores de referência. Não houve efeito da utilização da silagem inoculada associada com diferentes quantidades de concentrado sobre o consumo de matéria seca, consumo de matéria seca em relação ao peso corporal, consumo de matéria seca em relação ao peso metabólico, consumo de água e também sobre a relação entre consumo de água e consumo de matéria seca, o que pode ter sido ocasionado pelo fato dos animais serem da mesma categoria em relação a peso corporal, idade e estado fisiológico. Os animais de maneira geral apresentaram alto consumo da dieta e digestibilidade satisfatória. Concluiu-se que os teores crescentes de concentrado na dieta, melhoraram as respostas sobre consumo e digestibilidade, sem causar danos metabólicos aos animais
