Persepsi Keluarga Klien tentang Perilaku Caring Perawat di ICU

ABSTRACT Caring is a central part of the nursing practice. It covers some actions such as attention, care, empathy, communication, providing a positive response, providing support, and intervention according to the needs of the patients and families. Nurse with a good caring behavior could have a positive impact because it could reduce the anxiety of the patient and family. For the family of patient who is in a critical condition, getting information about the patient's medical condition and the relationship with the service provider is the highest priority expected and needed by the family. The purpose of this study was to describe the family perception of nurse caring behavior in the ICU. This research was a qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The participants used in this research were 10 families. The data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with participants. The results of this study resulted in 4 themes, each of them showed nurses' behavior in accordance or controvert with the 10 carative factors of caring by Watson's. The themes were the interaction between nurses and families, facilitating and providing supportive care environment, helping or providing the needs of patients and the lack of optimal role of the nurses in providing information, spiritual needs, and support for alternative medicine. The conclusion of this study is that the caring behavior of nurses in the ICU has been well implemented. It is expected that nurses are able to maintain the quality of nursing services that are not only focused on clients, but also families of clients in the ICU.
