Protocolli conoscitivi integrati per la tutela e la riconversione del patrimonio militare. Applicazioni sperimentali sulle caserme di Cagliari

The general rethinking of defence policies and the pressing need to reduce public expenditure are playing, not only in Italy, an ever more visible role in a new wave of decommissioning processes concerning military heritage. These are large enough to be considered as potential new containers of functions able to turn social policies and local strategies on their heads. Thus, the present contribute illustrates a rigorous methodological protocol of knowledge defined for analysing the military complexes with particular attention to the wide barracks built between the Italian Unification and the World War II, and tested in four military sites placed in Cagliari, chosen because of interesting and representative of the evolution of local military construction techniques. The wide range of historical and constructive elements that characterise these buildings - from bearing masonries to the framing systems also with interesting experimentations in the field of the industrial production – highlight the complexity of values assessment for these constructive elements both in the serial plan and in the original solutions adopted into the singular fabrics. In order to manage the process of reuse, the collected information has been structured through the Raumbuch, a tool for the recording of detailed thematic datasheets focused on all the construction elements, able to show a critic summary of the phase of knowledge, based on the value of each element. The full interoperability of this tool with the HBIM protocols also confirms the potentialities of the method in terms of degree of compatibility of the intervention and the management of the building site, with important benefits also in terms of economic evaluation of the project
