On the occasion of previous mineralogical-petrographic surveys carried out on the city walls of Siena, the use of different types of mortar emerged in the fortifications of Baldassarre Peruzzi compared to those of the XIV-XV century, with the use of new materials, more advanced on the technological plan. The present contribution intends to present the first results of the continuation of the research, this time comparing the entrapment mortars of Peruzzi forts, referable to the years 1527-1534 and promoted by the Republic of Siena, with those of the Medici Fortress, built by the will of Cosimo dei Medici, as a result of the conquest of the city of 1555, designed by Baldassarre Lanci (1561)
