Individual pension benefits are significantly gendered. The causes of this are known: the female employment rate is low, moreover women have discontinuous professional careers and they reach high and well-remunerated positions less than men. The aim of this work is to provide an analysis of the gender pension gap phenomenon in Italy depending on a large range of variation sources. First we define and describe the gender pension gap.
