H_infinity optimization synthesis is a very important and powerful tool for design of robust controllers. This paper is concerned with the speed control of a dc drive using H_infinity control theory. It is applied to design the speed controller for a dc drive. In particular, the problem of finding an "optimal" H_infinity controller is considered. The validity of the design procedure is verified by computer simulation and experimental analysis
