We are really delighted to present this special issue of the Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience journal on Models, Algorithms, and Tools for Highly Heterogeneous Computing Environments. This publication collects the extensions of the most valuable papers presented at MAMHYP‐17 (the fourth Workshop on Models, Algorithms, and Methodologies for Hybrid Parallelism in New HPC Systems, held in Lublin, Poland, in September 2017), as well as new original research works, with the aim to show the current state of the knowledge about the issues related to the integration of several forms of parallelism in the emerging HPC systems
