We demonstrate a simple scheme for digitally enhancing the coherence of a laser used as a local oscillator in a multiple-input multiple-output receiver for space-division multiplexed transmission. The proposed scheme yields a substantial relaxation of the coherence requirements set by the joint effect of the fiber chromatic and modal dispersion
