Neuromuscular disorders form a large group of debilitating diseases primarily affecting motor systems. For the majority of them, the mechanisms involved in pathogenesis are poorly understood and no efficient therapies are available. In the context of neurodegeneration, patient samples are not easily accessible. Thus, research relies mostly on cellular and animal models to study these disorders. However, in most cases, new models are still required to better dissect pathological mechanisms and optimize the drug discovery process.
