Four studies examined children's beliefs about the biological and social causes of gender differences and addressed two main questions: (1) What developmental changes are there in children's beliefs about nature versus nurture? (2) Do children differentiate between aspects of gender roles that adults believe to be biologically- or environmentally-based?
