A novel magnetic adsorbent was synthesized by solvothermal method for the removal of arsenic from aqueous phase by adsorption. This adsorbent comprises bamboo charcoal loaded with magnetite and humboldtine particles, and it was synthesized by solvothermal reaction between bamboo charcoal, ferric nitrate, and graphite in a medium of mixed solvents of ethylene glycol and water at 180℃ for a period of 3 h. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted using a known amount (0.1g) of adsorbent sample with a fixed volume of arsenite solution at an initial concentration of 100 ㎎/L.
