The present thesis deals with the development of novel, molecular catalysts based on the 3d-metals nickel and cobalt with a focus on the application in selected organic transformations. In the centre of the development is the synthetic utilization of carbon dioxide (CO2) as a C1-synthon.The hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to valuable products is the major topic of this thesis and is extensively studied. 3d-metal systems as catalysts for the reduction of CO2 to formates, methanol or to the formaldehyde level are examined. Additionally, the formation of highly versatile acrylates synthesized from CO2 in combination with ethylene catalysed by a nickel complex is discussed. Furthermore, the selective formation of organic products, e.g. transfer...
