[Objective] The very low-density lipoprotein receptor (VLDLR) plays an important role in the development of hepatic steatosis. In this study, we investigated the role of Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor (PPAR)b/d and fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) in hepatic VLDLR regulation. [Methods] Studies were conducted in wild-type and Pparb/d-null mice, primary mouse hepatocytes, human Huh-7 hepatocytes, and liver biopsies from control subjects and patients with moderate and severe hepatic steatosis.
