Estudio de Nrn1 en la patología de esquizofrenia

Neuritin 1 or Candidate Plasticity-related Gene 15 was identified in a screen for activityregulated genes involved in synaptic plasticity. Encodes a conserved small GPIanchored protein, which is highly expressed in the nervous system. Since its discovery, neuritin has been involved in many neural processes such as synaptic potentiation, neurite outgrowth, dendritic arborisation, regulation of neurodevelopment and neurodifferentiation of PC12 cell lines, but the molecular mechanisms are not totally understood. Neuritin has been related with many neural pathologies including depression, chronic stress, spinal cord injury and Alzheimer. Recently studies show a relation between schizophrenia and some neuritin’s SNPs, which correlates with an early age of onset and a low level of fluid intelligence. In this work, we focus in the study of neuritin’s mRNA expression in post mortem samples of schizophrenic patients, in its regulation in cortex primary culture after the stimulation with antipsychotics and finally the optimisation of a protocol for determining neuritin’s interactome.Peer reviewe
