Neuritin 1 or Candidate Plasticity-related Gene 15 was identified in a screen for activityregulated genes involved in synaptic plasticity. Encodes a conserved small GPIanchored protein, which is highly expressed in the nervous system. Since its discovery, neuritin has been involved in many neural processes such as synaptic potentiation, neurite outgrowth, dendritic arborisation, regulation of neurodevelopment and neurodifferentiation of PC12 cell lines, but the molecular mechanisms are not totally understood.
