International audienceOur goal is to show the interest of distinguishing several phases in the gesture underlying the production of labial consonants, including during the occlusion, where lips are essentially static, in order to better understand their control. Four adult speakers were recorded, while producing logatoms including the consonants /p/ and /b/, followed by 3 vowels (/a/, /i/ or /u/) and with increasing levels of articulatory effort. Five surface EMG signals targeting five orofacial muscles involved in several lip movements were recorded simultaneously with a video of the lips.
