The major histocompatability complex (MHC) encodes MHC class I molecules which present antigenic peptides to tumor specific CD8 T cells. Druggable kinases may provide the opportunity to enhance expression of MHC class I molecules on tumor cells. However, the regulation of MHC-I by kinases is largely unstudied, even though many patients with cancer are receiving therapeutic kinase inhibitors. The entire human kinome was screened using a pooled shRNA interference-based approach in a human mesothelioma cell line to uncover kinase regulators of MHC-I.
