Three piano recitals were given in lieu of a written dissertation. The first recital included works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Béla Bartók, and Franz Liszt. Mozart’s contrapuntal late style was presented in B-flat major, K. 570. Elaborations were provided by the performer in the second movement. To demonstrate Bartók’s advanced folk arrangements, Improvisations on Hungarian Peasant Songs Op. 20 was performed. Liszt’s spiritual devotion to God was represented by Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude. Liszt’s arrangement of J. S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in A minor concluded the recital.
