The first lecture recital presented Alexander Tcherepnin’s Five Concert Studies, Op. 52, identifying various Chinese music influences derived from Tcherepnin’s three years spent in China. The second dissertation recital presented two of Franz Joseph Haydn’s sonatas: E major Hob. XVI: 31, and A-flat major, Hob. XVI: 46. The performance of these two sonatas included improvised ornaments and a cadenza. The program also included Alexander Scriabin's late period Sonata No. 9, Op. 68. Finally, Book 1 of Isaac Albéniz’s Iberia was performed. This early 20th century work contrasted with Scriabin's Black Mass sonata, composed around the same time.
