To meet increasing energy density demand of consumer electronics, electric vehicles and grid-scale storage, lithium metal has been proposed to be the anode choice for the next generation of lithium ion battery due to its high theoretical capacity and low electrochemical potential. However, the dendrite growth during the lithium deposition process has been the most critical issue that prevents the commercialization of lithium metal battery because it can not only cause capacity loss but also lead to internal short circuit and safety hazard.
