Re-commissioning the HVAC of an office building:systematic performance evaluation according L.E.A.

Heating, Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) systems in new office buildings are systematically underperforming. Continuous Commissioning (CCx) is seen as promising to improve this situation. However, implementation of CCx is complex and cost-intensive though cost effective. As an alternative performance efficiencies during exploitation are periodically upgraded by performing Re-Commissioning (RCx).\u3cbr/\u3eHowever, often results after RCx don’t live up to their expectations. The Lean Energy Analysis (L.E.A.) gives outcome to increase the quality of the RCx process. By graphical and statistical analysis L.E.A. incites the search for the origin responsible for the biggest inefficiency. Moreover, when RCx is performed effectively it can act as a strategic step to systematically implement CCx. In this paper, using a 7000m2 office building as test-bed, results from the application of preforming a RCx process according the principles of L.E.A. are presented. The results indicate a possible\u3cbr/\u3ereduction of 44% on AHU fan electricity with additional reduction on HP-, boiler- and pumping energy consumption. The study shows that by analysing installation data according the principles of L.E.A., inefficiencies can be addressed systematically thus improving the efficiency and effectiveness of RCx process
