This image shows the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), or geodetic station CHMX of the Résif-Rénag network. This station is located in the Chamonix commune, on the roof of the school city (Haute-Savoie). This station is part of the Résif-Rénag network, composed for the northern part of the French Alps of about twenty stations allowing the precise study (measurement of surface deformation in the order of mm) of the deformation of the French Alps. On this picture we can distinguish different elements constituting this geodetic station: i) the pylon, here a galvanized steel pillar, ii) the satellite signal receiving antenna (sheltered under a radome to limit snow cover in winter).
