V rámci této studie je testována řada perfluorosulfonových membrán pro použití ve vanadových redoxních bateriích (VRFB): konkrétně membrány o konstantní tloušťce 50 μm s různou iontoměničovou kapacitou v rozmezí od 0,56 do 1,15 mol ekv. g-1. Pomocí UV / Vis spektroskopie by měřen difuzní tok vanadových iontů v různém oxidačním. Nejvyšší propustnost iontů vykazuje vanadový iont v oxidačním stavu 2+ a přispívá tak nejvíce k samovybíjení baterie. Mechanismus přetoku vanadových iontů je diskutován pro všechny oxidační stavy. Jednotlivé membrány jsou v baterii charakterizovány pomocí EIS, pomocí měření zátěžových křivek a nabíjecích - vybíjecích cyklů při různých proudových hustotách od 50 do 200 mA cm-2.
