The purpose of this study is to develop a new model of music therapy. Multiple sources have documented the need for an environment that is open and comfortable in which hospice patients may freely express their hopes, memories, fears, experiences, concerns, and thoughts. This model strives to create that environment through the concomitant use of patient-chosen commercially-recorded listening and therapist supported dialogue. Through the analysis of literature and clinical vignettes, this study begins to explore the development of a model for music therapy with patients in hospice care.M.A., Creative Arts in Therapy -- Drexel University, 200
