The shallow water equations are discretized implicitly by the control volume approach, and the resulting linear algebraic equations are solved by a penta-diagonal solver. To confirm the capability and efficiency of the numerical model, the numerical applications in the paper are focused on the simulations of currents induced by tides and spectral waves in coastal inlets.
