Although, there has been increasing interest in the determinants of Foreign Direct Investment in emerging markets, FDI into the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region has so far received little attention among academics. The MENA region provides a useful ground for the testing of traditional determinants of FDI such as market attractiveness, openness to trade and environmental risk. In addition, the region’s energy reserves make it possible to test for the role of a country’s energy endowment and world oil prices
