Given the persistence of conflicts in multiple regions of the country, the increase in violence in Rakhine State, the continuing accounts of atrocities and human rights abuses, and the hundreds of thousands who remain displaced both within and across Myanmar’s borders, it may seem somewhat optimistic to speak of achieving sustainable peace in the country at present. However, the intention of this work has been to indicate the potential role for education to support efforts to move towards peace and the pitfalls that exist that may undermine peacebuilding efforts.
