However, for eHealth technologies to have an effect, they need to be accepted and used in the intended way to benefi t patients the most. But this has often proven to be diffi cult to promote. In this chapter, we will go deeper into this issue by fi rst elaborating on three important concepts regarding the use of technology, namely, acceptance, adoption and adherence. Second, we will connect these three concepts to user engagement. User engagement is introduced as a way to increase the use of eHealth technologies.
