Norwegian has a possessor with the preposition på 'on' which is used with body part nouns. It shares properties with the dative external possessor of e.g. German and French, but it differs from them in that it can be a part of the noun phrase with the body part noun. I show that the noun phrase-internal possessor should be considered a socalled prominent internal possessor, and propose that it is derived by the application of possessor raising "backward"
