Impacts of Domestic Violence in family on the Child

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to find out, based on the study of professional literature and case studies, what negative effects might have domestic violence in the family on children. First are presented the definitions and functions of the family. Subsequently, domestic violence is characterized, with emphasis on children as witnesses as well as direct victims of violent behavior. In this context, the CAN syndrome is described. Particular attention is paid to the effects of violence on children, such as psychological deprivation, post-traumatic stress disorder, a situation where a child takes on an adult role and transgenerational transmission of violence. The theoretical part is followed by qualitative research. I used the method of analysis of documents in the form of case reports from the files of The Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children, where minors were exposed to domestic violence in their families
