This work deals with the phenomenon of imaginary companions that occurs in some preschool children. Its aim is to look into this issue, bring it closer and highlight its diversity. The theoretical part deals with the developmental specifics of the pre-school period, the game in general with a focus on symbolic play. In the context of the symbolic game, it is specifically the phenomenon of the imaginary companion. In the practical part, based on the analysis of interviews, the thesis tries to point out topics that are common to more imaginary companions, as well as those that are rather exceptional
