This thesis focuses on long-term care (LTC) in Switzerland. Considering care delivered to el- derly in need of assistance with activities of daily living, the need for LTC is expected to increase in the near future. This will come with major challenges for financing care, planning new in¬frastructures and overcoming the lack of qualified caregivers. Based on a novel comprehensive longitudinal dataset, we study three topics on LTC in Switzerland. In the first topic, we analyze the population requiring LTC and consider the démographie development.
