The periconceptional period has gained increasing attention in recent research in order to improve pregnancy and future health outcomes. This thesis focuses on periconceptional maternal nutrition and one-carbon metabolism in association with embryonic health, assessed by longitudinal growth and morphological development measurements, with further investigations on the effects on subsequent fetal growth parameters. Moreover, the associations between periconceptional maternal dietary patterns and human prenatal cerebellar growth have been addressed as a proxy of future neurodevelopmental outcome
