The uses of personal patient data collected in the healthcare is a growing concern for the society as it can raise serious issues of privacy and power. Currently there is little known about how social and cultural dynamics shaping health data flows between different sites of practice. This research examines socio-cultural dynamics shaping the journey of selected types of personal patient data produced within the UK healthcare sector, from the initial creation of the data through to its re-use for secondary purposes in different contexts.
