International audienceThe relationship between the UGT in exile in France and the leaders of the CGT from 1944 to 1949 has been the reflection of the ideological confrontations between socialists and communists in a context of a nascent cold war. Being given a rough handling, misunderstood, and sometimes ignored by their conterpart of the CGT and of the WFTU, the leaders of the socialist UGT led an open war against the other socialo-communist group of the UGT .They will only find their safety thanks to the evolution of internal conflicts leading to a break between both tendencies of the workers movement within the CGT and the WFTU
