This thesis concerns the properties of high-strength concrete. To make the work relevant to local economic conditions, South African materials, proportioned to produce mixes that could be compacted by conventional means, are the basis for all tests described. Recommendations are made for the selection of materials and the proportioning of materials. Economic implications of using high-strength concrete are investigated. [Abbreviated abstract.
