SON GELİŞMELER IŞIĞINDA AVRUPA BİRLİĞİ ÇEVRE POLİTİKASINDA DEĞİŞİMLER VE TÜRKİYE\u27NİN POLİTİK YAKLAŞIMI

The environmental policy of the European Union has been gradually changing since 1970\u27s. The first important amendment to the Founding Treaties in the second halfof the 1980\u27s recognised the environmental policy as one o f the common policy areas o f the Union. In this Article its historical perspective and political contextwill be discussed. Considering the relations between Turkey and the European Union , the adaptation of the Union\u27s environmental policy is bringing the new challenge for the Turkish Government. Turkey needs to harmonise its environmental policy and standart with the EU\u27s. In addition, Turkish environmental policy is to be improve in a limited perspective set up by the EU policy makers.This Article aims to contribute to a critical analysis of the Turkish environmental policy settings and Contributors try to show that Union\u27s environmental policy may serve a general framework for Turkey.. Saving natural and cultural heritage ofthis country needs also additional national policies.
