Dating Art. Archaeometry applied to studying historic cave paintings.For some years now, the study of prehistoric cave paintings has been enriched by the use of archaeometric absolute dating techniques and the analysis of the pigments and dyes used to draw them. Not only have these techniques allowed a better understanding of the nature of some parietal groups, but have also caused an authentic shock, putting into question some of the prevailing ideas about their chronology or their meaning
