Se realiza una revisión bibliográfica con el propósito de ofrecer algunas consideraciones acerca del cólera y su origen, factores de riesgo, epidemiología, diagnóstico, tratamiento y prevención para un adecuado manejo y con ello enfrentar su eliminación, reduciendo su incidencia con un accionar temprano y con la mayor percepción del riesgo no solo por parte de la población sino también del personal de salud. Se hace referencia a su forma clínica, grupos de riesgos, factores epidemiológicos, así como a la educación sanitaria y su modo de prevención.
