Possibilities of using art therapy methods and techniques for children with autism spectrum disorder

This bachelor thesis deals with the possibilities of using art therapy techniques in the teaching process of pupils with autism spectrum disorders. The first part deals with the theoretical knowledge about art therapy field - general principles, methods and techniques that can be used in art therapy. In addition, the problem of autism spectrum disorder in the context of art therapy work is presented - the problematic areas associated with the ASD, to which art therapy interventions are most often targeted and which they try to influence positively, are specified. The conclusions and recommendations of earlier research on this subject are summarized. The theoretical background is followed by a case study describing the course of incorporation of some art therapy techniques into teaching when working with pupil with autism spectrum disorder in high school focused on the education of pupils with special educational needs. The aim of this work was to find out whether the use of art therapy techniques in teaching process can be beneficial.
