This thesis deals with the topic of London in the young adult literature. The main theme is London and its real and imaginary depiction in chosen books. The theoretical part explains the function of the hero and surrounding in fantasy fiction. The second part focuses on five books or books series Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, The Power of Five by A. Horowitz, The Skyscraper Throne by T. Pollock, Peter Grant series by B. Aaronovitch and Un Lun Dun by Ch. Miéville. This practical part shows and tries to explain the existence and function of the second London or fantasy London in these books
