The Development of the Roof Structures from Antiquity to the 20th Century

This diploma thesis deals with the historical development of roof structures and materials used in their construction. The development in time can be delimited from the antique Rome and Greek up to the introduction of modern reinforced concrete structures in the twentieth century. The paper focuses not only on the roof structures and their types, but also on the appropriate roofing. In addition, it highlights the advantages or disadvantages of the individual types of structures, their elements and other relevant things. It is also devoted to the typology of the materials, their development and correct processing.
