The remote sensing of water reservoirs is not common in the Czech Republic. At the present moment modern technologies are partially used for the large water reservoirs and the navigable parts of Czech rivers. Mostly there is just one measuring technique used and often not to its full potential. Most of the new measuring techniques of bathymetry are designed for the marine ecosystems. This thesis analyzes them and comes up with their possible use including their limits in the conditions of the water reservoirs and rivers in the CR. Those limits arise from geomorphology, volume, area, depth, water quality and bottom structures.
